Product name: Saarinen Tulip Arm Chair, Swivel Chair, Fiberglass Tulip Chair, Leisure Bar Chair
Designed by Eero Saarinen in1956
In his purist approach to design, Eero Saarinen sought out the essential idea and reduced it to the most effective structural solution. In 1956, he designed the Tulip chair in terms of its setting, rather than a particular shape. As the winner in the 1969 Museum of Modern Art Award, the Tulip is regarded as Saarinen's genius solution to clearing up the "slum of legs" which populates the under-carriage of most dining sets.
